Intermittent hard starting

78' bronco 351M when it isn't quite hot or cold just sort of warm it will sometimes take forever to start. lots of cranking. More so then when it is cold. When it is hot it will fire right up first shot. Any thoughts? thanks.

Maybe the choke not working correctly?

Thats what I was thinking, but don't these have auto chokes? How do you tell if it is working correctly?

Here is a link to some information that should help you. It helped me with my carb until I changed over to a 4barrel and manual choke.
