I'm having the exact same problem. Except I never spilled anything. But it does this whenever I take it through the car wash (and not cleaning the engine) and also when it's raining. But it seems that once the engine is fully warmed up it goes back to running properly.

I think maybe there is a connection problem at the sensor, or possibly a broken wire at the connector. It idled fine until you let it cool down? what happens if you just clear the codes without doing anything and start it up? does it idle fine until you do another restart?

it might be a good idea to check the terminals real close at the connector.

I had the same problem with a ford van I own, I washed it and suddenly it would stumble and have a fit trying to idle.

The coil pack on mine had stress cracks all over the silly thing when I pulled it out and looked at it, but it was fine until it got any moisture on it. Check your ignition components, coil, distributor cap, coil packs (if they have it) and even your wires. Sometimes the wires will go bad and you have no idea, try running it in the dark and look for a spark light show on the wires.

i have been driving a 90 full size bronco for about 2 years now and it has always had that problem. it usually does it when the engine is cold, but i have also had it stall at a stoplight after its had the time to warm up. im starting to feel it when im driving around too. i tried to tell my dad that it needs a tune up, but for some reason he doesnt think thats causing it, any suggestions?

Well if he doesn't look he will never find the problem, so it is a process of elimination. You check till you find.

Read Steve83's post and go to the link to check for codes.

I have an 89 Bronco and had the same problem, then go a full tune up and it got better, but it could have also been b/c I replaced the distirbuter cap at the same time.
