I JUST BOUGHT A 1984 BRONCO WITH A 5.8L . I UNDESTAND THAT IT IS A 351 BUT IS IT A 351M????OR WHAT. PLEASE HELP. /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The easiest way to tell is to look at the upper radiator hose . If it comes out of the motor block its a 351M if it comes out of the front of the intake its a 351W .

THANKS FOR THE TIP. NOW DO YOU IF THE BOLT PATTERN IS THE SAME FOR BOTH MOTORS TO HOOK UP TO THE TRANSMISSION

NO the 351W is the small block pattern and the 351M is the big block pattern . And a C6 tranny has a non removable bellhousing so if you want to swap motors you will have to change the tranny too . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The 1984 Bronco came from the factory with a 351W motor. The 351M was discontinued in 1982. IF you know for sure that the motor is the original, it will be a Windsor. The 8th character in the VIN will be a "G" or "H". Blades description is the best way to tell, if you're not sure the motor is the original or a swap. The timing chain cover is also differnet from the "M" and the Windsor motors.
