i need a cold air intake

for my 1986 bronco with a brand new 5.0 302. also working on exhaust (cherry bombs maybe) but i already have one flowmaster pipe so if anyone could point me in the direction of a good on that would be great. id like K&N but they dont sell it for a 86 just 88+. would it really matter about they year?

86 used a carburetor so they would not have a cold air intake setup. but if you have a later model efi then 87 to 96 would be the same setup.

All 80 to 86 302's, carbed or EFI were designed with a cold air intake. See picture attached. That black ribbed thing you see in the middle of the picture. That is for a carbed 351. The 302 EFI arrangement is on the other side but still a cold air intake, (gets it air from outside the engine compartment). You can't get any colder than the outside air temperature unless you add a cooler which is part of a turbo setup. Just use the factory intake box, unless your engine has been modified and requires more air than the stock engine. If it is a stock factory engine or rebuilt to stock specifications you factory intake can supply all the air the engine is capable of gulping down. If the displacement has been increased then you may have to do something else. Hanging a KN on it that does not have a method of taking in air from outside the engine compartment is not a cold air intake it is a hot air intake.

thanks. im just thinkin of ways to beef up my truck horsepower wise
