ok... so i bought an 89 bronco eddie bauer edition a couple days ago... i mean the outside dont have a scratch on it and the engine only has 123k on it... but theres a couple things wrong with it... first things first... the right side of the dashboard caught on fire and they were telling me it was the heater core.. is that a common problem with these broncos ...let me know if not or whatelse might have caused it... its the 5.8L.. another thing is it needs a windshield but i ended up ripping one out of a junkyard... but all in all i think i got a pretty good deal... i bought a PS3 off a budy of mine for 100 bucks and traded the guys straight up for it... i mean it has a chrome bumper sheild on it and a lift kit with 32 in oversized tires and a step bars lol. I stand about 5'7 and the window is like at my jaw line lol...its pretty badd ass i mean.. im gonna have to invest about 250 dollars in it but who cares its a ford right...lol

if you have any important need to knows about these truck please let me know....

Great find. How is the interior? However, I am sure that you will end up spending more than 250 on it at some point. I am not sure about your dash, I have an 89 aswell with 190,000 on it and have not experienced any wiring problems except for my tail gate but that was a simple fix. Good luck with your investment, and treat it right, she will do the same for you....

A burnt dash is pretty rough. I would have to question the heater core catching fire, they arent really all that flammable. The passenger side kick panel has a bunch of wiring and relays, I would put money on it that thats where the fire started. You will have to rip the whole dash out and replace the wiring harness and the dash with parts from the auto wreckers, or something. You have your work cut out for you but heck the price was right.

Also, am guessing that the "heater core fire" was caused by dry leaves/crap that settled in da Blower Motors/Ducts

& caught fire...This shows where leaves build up in '80-96 truck ductwork. If they build up around the resistors, the entire truck can catch fire if the motor is NOT at full speed all the time. by Steve

& "..The problem is leaves and small twigs fall through the cowl vent and create a tender box in the hvac system. When the leaves build up on the resister next to the blower motor, they can catch FIRE off the heat of the resister. So here's a little how to that anyone can do:

First remove your blower motor, you'll need a 5/16 socket to loosen the four screws, and it will easily pop out. Once the blower is out of the way, you'll be able to scoop/vacuum out all the debris. Reach your arm all the way down the inner fender to get all the crap out, just try to get your hand in every nook and cranny the leaves could've got into.

Next, use your 5/16 to remove the resister (The red thing) so you can clean it real good.." it is marked in red ... by Stupid (yeak, that's his name)

also, ck drains on both sides behind wheels near frame; I use a bent metal coat hanger (at end) to remove leaves; mostly Pine needles here...
