I was driving the other day and heard a loud pop. i pulled over and noticed that the passenger side hub blew apart. When i bought the car the previous owner replaced it and i can see it was not done right. There was barely grease on it and i could tell it really over heated. The retaining nut off the spline backed off into the hub and a bunch of teeth got chipped in the hub. I have a list of parts i know i need and want to make sure i am not missing anything. New spindle(the old one was bent), outer and inner wheel bearing with race, hub seal, hub/bearing spindle nut and a new locking hub. Am i missing anything? Also does any one have a diagram for how to re assemble it? Any picture would help too. Thanks

yo,

For a 92, correct?

If so;

Replacement, Front Wheel & Auto Hub Swap in a 90; and, Wheel Bearing Locknut Torque Settings for 80-96 MANUAL HUBS, NOT Factory Auto Hubs; Ford Pickups and Bronco; "...Using a lockout spanner (ford # T59T-1197-B or equivalent ) and a torque wrench, tighten the inner bearing adjusting nut to 50 foot pounds while rotating the wheel back and forth and seating the bearing. Back off the adjusting nut approximately 45 degrees. Assemble the lock washer by turning the inner lockout to align the pin with the nearest hole in the lock washer. To lock it, install the outer lock nut and tighten it to 150 foot pounds. Grab the top of the tire with one hand and the bottom of the tire with the other. Move the tire in and out on the spindle. End play should be less than .006 – inch.).." Thanks to Chris!!!!

Spindle Differences '80-96

In addition to the ~'92 loss of a spindle stud (leaving 5) and the addition of 2 notches in the spindle ****** (Bronco only) for the 4WABS sensor used on '93-96 Broncos only, the spindle was also redesigned in ~'95 to match the revised 2-piece inner wheel seal. F150 spindle flanges were never notched or drilled for the 4WABS sensor, but are otherwise identical to the corresponding Bronco's.

I suspect the slot was lengthened around '86 for the self-locking spindle nut, but I haven't confirmed that.

'87-early '88 spindles for manual (top-hat ******-style) hub locks are significantly shorter overall, take a 1-piece hub/rotor, and have 6 stud holes.
