No problemo, rodsteal. I get the same thing when I talk about my 88 460 EFI motor that I carbed. Ask a question about what dizzy to run, or what headers will fit, and I get a discussion on the virtues of EFI vs the old carb. MY two daily drivers are EFI, and I'm not changing them to a carb either. But most of the folks who replied to this thread, and perhaps you included, have run Holley, Edelbrock, Carter maybe even a Demon or Predator carb on some rig. While the Truck Avenger is new compared to those other brands, it seems to get an overall high rating for offroad driving. Be sure to post up after a few trips whether you like it or don't. I've found that sometimes the carb itself is not at fault for running bad, it's some other issue with vacuum or timing. Just remember not to get into a fight with your brother or best friend!!! Please try and understand I might be a little apprehensive to post the result here

I think EFI is the best thing since sliced bread. It's not that I cant put it on my EB, I just wont, for the same reason I wouldn't put it on a Z28, Nova or Mustang. Besides, I rarley hillclimb and most of the time I desert run.

Well it's understandable. Now back when I DID run carbs (cue background violins) there *weren't* any Eledbrock carbs. You had Holley & Carter and since the famous Carter quadra-bog was the premier GM carb back then it just seemes wrong to run on on a full-boogie 460. I went thru a series of Holleys and eventually tried all the off-road float bowls kits and quick-change power-valves and such and was getting pretty frustrated yanking the engine every 6 or 7 months to dyno it (No chassis Dynos either, they were just coming out but of course MY machinist being an Old-School kinda guy wouldn't hear of it, well that and the $80K they cost at the time) and picking up like 6HP with $450 worth of parts & tuning. Eventually I gambled and switched to a Predator carb. What a difference. The throttle *snapped* like a small-block and I picked up something like 20Hp over my best tuned Holley. I can't honestly compare it to a TA carb since I've never run one but I HAVE spent $300 modding & tuning a standard Holley only to have it eclipsed by the Predator. I ran that particular engine competetively and after switching to the Predator it *never once* bogged down on me or up & died while I was halfway thru a run. Going home w/a 5ft trophy was something I found very easy to get used to. Just my exp. with the whole carb deal.
