I am curious as to what the best seats to put in my 89 are for the money. I have found some 01 f150's that are okay in terms of they will need some cleaning up but aren't too bad. I have also looked at different bucket/ racing seats online. I am just curious as to what some of you have put in, and what seemed to mount to the already existing brackets the best. Please let me know what you think is the best route when it comes to seats. Thank you.

yo!

ok, capice on saving $ too!

You'll have to make a cardbd template of da F 150's seat mount & compare it to da Bronco's to see for fit as well as where any holes need to be drilled thru floor pan..measure seat mount/seat cushion ht too to ensure your knees won't rub on da strg wheel..am ****..should be rel. ok to swap

Here are some LINKS in my bronco site by others especially our pal JSM!!!!

JBG seems to have some good corba racing seats for a great price. I believe they bolt right up to your existing seat brackets. Correct me if I am wrong. My intentions are to go with one of these and a five point harness since its my toy

I found these seats online and think I might give them a shot. I am not totally sold on them yet thought.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBro...d=group_listing they are from jc whitney. They said they should bolt to my existing brackets so that will make life alot easier. Now I just need to find a center console to go along with them.

guy i work with put taurus seats in his f150. i dont know if they bolted right in or not though, i think he said they did. What do you do with your truck? i know summit has some decent seats that are a good price.

But if you are close/ can pick up what i have, you can have all 3 for $100.

sketts. i am 110% sold on the racing suspension seats over any others. Instead of a rigid frame covered with foam, these style seats have parachute cords stretched across the middle, so you feel like floating on air not sitting on a bucket. Some brands are Beard, MAsterCraft, and PRP Racing. I recentlt mounted a pair of PRP seats in the 78 Bronco that I bought for the 84 a few years ago. I did have them bolted up to the 84 bucket seat frames while i was building the rollcage, and made mounting tabs on the cage to bolt the seats to. The mounting tabs on the PRP seats point down vs being flat on the MC and Beard's. I just fabbed some angle iron mounts for the 84 bucket brackets, and welded a few tabs to a bench seat frame for the 78 Bronco. You can check out the PRP Racing website for a direct-fit seat bracket.

Just an important note: Anytime you mount aftermarket seats to the stock bucket seat frames, check the passenger-side for clearnace with the windshield when the seat is flipped forward. My PRP's were OK, but I've seen a few busted windshields on other Broncos, JSM84

The seats I am looking at are a universal racing seat from JC Whitney. I do not know exactly if these are the ones I will be purchasing. I am kind of hoping to just mount them to my current stock brackets, but if I need to fab some new ones it shouldnt be a problem. Would you recommend using a 4 point harness instead of the stock seatbelt? For comfort, or does it matter. I do not do a ton of extreme wheeling but once in awhile, if that is what it takes to get into good hunting. Oh well, I am sure it will all work out. Thank you very much for your input

I would ONLY use a 4-pt or 5-pt harness if you have a seat bar or rollcage to mount the shoulder straps to, level with your chest. It is NOT safe to mount them to the floor, as that can cause your spine to compress from the straps pulling downward. On the 78 Bronco, I am only using the lap belts and the submarine belt, all bolted to the seat frame. Here's a shot of the same seats mounted in the 84 Bronco, with the shoulder harnesses mounted to the horizontal seat bar:

The RJS 5-pt harnesses I'm using have a quick-release lever, which I prefer over the stock seatbelts and the pushbutton latch.

Alright, thank you very much. I did not know that. I will pry just use my stock seat belts then or just use the waist belt if i put in a harness.
