I don't know if this is something that has been brought up in the past. The ignition key on the EB is the most vulnerable thing on my truck. I had to replace it about 3 months ago and I was amazed at how easy you could disable them and start your engine. I am always concerned when I leave it for any amount of time unless it is in my garage. I came up with this as another deterrent.

It is a battery cut off for a boat. I ran it in line from the started, that way I dont have to reset my radio every time I want to drive it. Better than a **** switch that a determiner thief could find if he has enough time, this one has a removable key that you can take with you for added piece of mind. I know its not the best solution and if someone wants it bad enough they re going to get it, but its a step in the right direction.

I to have been thinking of ways to keep the bronco where I parked it! I hadn't thought about that one, great idea! I was leaning towards something similar to the die hard battery w/ a remote contrlled cut off switch, built inside the battery, but all some one would have to do is swap batteries. Thanks for sharing. I hate theives!

I used to have a 53 Ford F100 back in the day and the switch was pretty much the same as my Bronco. I just wound swapping it out with a newer one from a late model truck. It made the mechanism a bit tougher, but since the wires are right on the bottom it didn't make too much difference.

This is a good idea though. Have you noticed any change in the starter? That's a lot of cable to run between the starter and the seat now....

It about 10 feet of wire from the solenoid to the switch and back to the started. I have only had it on since last night and no problems yet. The one thing I did notice was my alternator would spike every once and a while and they has not happened yet. That could be totally unrelated though. Oh, and church was more enjoyable with the Bronco in the parking lot and the battery key in my pocket. I wasn't worried about it the whole time.

If you install that in a secret location, so a would be theif cannot bypass it, that would work great.

Last Tuesday I went to the local range with a friend of mine in his '71 Bronco. When we had fired off all our ammo we walked back to an empty parking lot. The first thing I muttered in the silence was...."I know this web page you should check out." Hoping your idea is still working fine, police recovered his bronco the next day and he is anxious to prevent a reoccurence.
