Hi all! axle bearing caps

Hi all! all I have learn about what direction axle bearing caps were to face arrow to be pointing outward towards wheels mine are pointing inward. I'm noticed inside the caps where (inside against the bearing ) there is a lath groove on one side.

Mine have always faced outward as far as I can remember.

What problem are you trying to solve?

if you are just doing an oil change and nothing else is wrong just leave them.

Thanks for your reply, I had to change the spider gears because they were broke and the tone ring teeth was damaged as well, also replace clutch's. My first 8 8.

If you are not doing bearings then put the caps back on the way they came off.

Yeah, 8.8 definitely had some weak points. They all need that eventually.

Axel been rebuilt before. I agree with you Thanks! The Bronco been treated very hard per other owners finely has found me @68 who's going to restore it. It'll have an easy life and visit local classic car shows too with pride. It's automatic when I research the numbers, its a 1990 is that a good thing or it don't matter what year over all? Thanks.
