ok so the bronco runs, runs great actuall. so i took it to get the emissions test today and i didnt pass. everything was good except the carbonmonoxide while running at 35 mph, idle passed but not the running part. what should i do.

So to take out the frustration i took it for a little run, got hung up for a few secs buts it was good.

Just my $0.02 (and coming from a guy in South Fla with NO inspection system at all, just watch me take advantage of *that* $hit) but when I was back in Mass the tests were pretty tough. I would try several insp. stations until I found one that let me drive the truck in & sit there while they ck'd the front end & setup the sniff test. If I could stay in the cab I was cool because I'd always run the A/C which cuts your emmissions by 40% or so. If They insisted on driving it in themselvs I was usually $hit out of luck but after having it happen a couple times I started turning the A/C on & then pulling the **** off so it didn't indicate that it was on. It DID get to be a hassle but it worked more often than not and most of the guys never said a thing while sniffing it & listening to the A/C compressor cycle on & off (I'm sure they knew but just weren't getting paid enuf to care) . Of course having your wife or female friend come along wearing a skirt & tube top never hurts, especially if she doesn't mind wandering around & asking what this big tool does or what that thing is for. Entirely hypothetical of course, your milage MAY vary. But the A/C thing really did reduce the emmissions quite a bit & the wife only had to help out a couple of times.

It ain't entirely legal, but you ca drill a 1/16th " hole in the exaust, drill it at an angle towards the exit and it will actually **** in clean air, diluting the exhaust at the tail pipe. Like I said, ain't entirely legal, but it got my caddy though. Also theirs a product called gaurenteed to pass. Higher octane gas, possibly with octane boost would help too.

NOPE NONE OF THAT WILL WORK. my first test fail , so 3 cans of seafoam and 3 bottles of fuel treatment and an hour idling in my driveway then the drive to the testing i passed with flying colors. i heard GTP will work (gtp=Gaurantee to pass). just let your truck run in the driveway with the 6 bottles in the tank along with gas derr, and then take the long way to the emissions and im almost positive you will pass.

???? I just have to ask, how is it that you know this with such authority that you need to shout ? I know for a fact that running the A/C works because it loads the engine when the clutch is engaged. You get the same thing if you test the truck with the transmission in Drive. The engine is working harder & this changes the emmissions ratio (NOx & CO2 go way down). This, incidently, is why vehicles ARE tested in park & with the A/C off (if you doubt then try it for yourself). I spend a Sat afternoon at a local shop with a couple friends (one worked there and the owner was out of town) testing various ideas. Stuffing the exhaust with steel wool reduces NOx emmissions but skews the rest of the ratios so badly it's obvious something's wrong and it's hard to get it up past the distance of the probe & still be able to get it out again. Redirecting the output of the airpump from the converter to a **** downstream doesn't work either (in addition to being a hassle to do & then return to stock). We tried 2 fuel additives, 1 reduced emmissions somewhat but not enuf (at least not enuf on the truck we used) and the other worked well enuf. There's so many out there now it's hard to say anymore.

good to hear, my truck alwasy read WAY low on the NO but high on the CO2, actually everything but the CO2 was only about 10% of the max, that was only just under the limit, but this is with the air pump not hooked up at all.
