I have a 79 351 modified Manual 4 speed with factory quad shock setup. I met a guy this weekend that seemed to know alot about trucks and he told me that the older broncos came stock with either D44's or D60's. He said that if my bronco came with the factory quad shock setup then I had D60's in the front and back. He said that the quad shock setup ment that the bronco was equipped with a towing package and therefore had D60's. Is this True??? If not, can someone tell me how I can figure out what axils are under my rig.

My 78 351m 4 speed manual has the factory quad shock setup and has the d44 front and ford 9" rear.

The only Bronco's that ever came with D60's is a Centurian. You will have D44 in front and 9 inch in the rear. And most likely will have 3.50 gears. On the bolts that hold the pumpkin in for the 9 inch there should be a tag unless someone has removed it, that will tell you what axle you have as well as gear ratio and what style carrier. The D44 should have a tag as well on one of the cover bolts.
