Hi there, my name is Keith and I am hoping to pick up my first Bronco this week. I am looking at an 89 Bronco because I want a good 4x4 and I also want to teach myself something about auto repair and maintenance. I will be utilizing this site to get a lot of information and ideas about things I want to do with the Bronco, so thanks in advance for your experience. I will post pictures of the vehicle, hopefully this weekend.

On a side note, can anyone tell me if there are any glaring things I should be looking for that would make me not want to pick up the Bronco I am looking at? Is there something that will stand out as an issue from a visual, test-drive point of view?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Zone :)>- . Looking forward to :-B at the pictures.

Hmmmmm, the main glaring thing huh? Check for serious rust around the rocker panels near the door post that is behind the door. Not that it is not fixable, but a pain if it is real serious. Also, look at the support metal underneath and at the rear of the 1/4 panels. Stuff like this: (easy to see here since the 1/4 panel is off). That is fixable also, but again a pain.

Good luck,

:)>-

Well here she is. Picked her up today. Pretty sure she needs an alternator, I will start with a new battery (apparently this Bronco has been sitting for a few years). Other than that ran pretty good, seemed to get a little hot idling and the check engine light is on. Then there was the beautiful smell of everything that has been sitting for the past couple of years baking off the motor. Whattya think?
