Hello!

I have an 89 Bronco who's headlights/turn signals stopped working. The fuse is fine. This problem reared its ugly head about the same time I had issues with the tailgate window not working, the power locks not working and the radio not having any lights on it. Those all ran on the same fuse. I changed that fuse and the tailgate started working again, but intermittently. I got the window up and thats good for now.

But the lights have me stumped. Could it be the swtich? What would cause both these issues to happen at the same time? I can put the four way flashers on and then the turn signals will work, but not when you pull the lights ****. It sounds like a switch issue, but it also seems like there is more going on...

Any ideas?

Katie

You may want to check your ground that is on the bottom edge of the dash on the driver's side.

Well, I went to look and there isn't a fuse ox under the hood. There is one on my 93, but not on the 89. Should there be one? Or are they all fusable links?

All of that goes back to a fuseable link. An easy check is to temporarily bypass the link, it is the one that connects the battery power to the black with orange stripe wire. Unfortunately I don't have the exact diagram for your truck but I am attaching one for reference so you can see how the links are arranged. The one I'm thinking of is the one where the black with orange wire has a splice S220 after fuselink L on this diagram. On my truck that use to be buried inside the wire harness, (I no longer have fuseable links for a couple of reasons, I installed an underhood fuse box to replace them and allow room for adding stuff without making a big wiring mess).

Diagrams attached plus a view of my underhood box, just because daddy is proud of his baby

Good luck,

:)>-

WHen you check your switch look at the connetor on the truck . mine was shorting out becuz the wires on the connection were backing and it caused similar problems also do you have any after market radio/speakers or anything extra not factory check them wires too. out so i pushed them all in firmly when I installed the new switch and used some liquid electrical tape and it's worked out for 2 yrs now.
