I am debating weather or not to cut the posts off of my hard top to assist in the hard top removal process. To my understanding earlier EB's hard tops did not have the posts on the hard tops. It seems to me there should be enough bolts to hold the hard top on, and if this is the case what functions do the posts serve.

I don't see why not, its there to help align and in the forces of an accident or roll over. Enough bolts should make up for it.
