I want to run a dual alternator and dual battery set up on my Bronco more or less to have it and to run my stereo. I have a slim grasp on wireing things and was wondering if anyone here could enlighten me on what to get to isolate (if needed) the batteries or alternators and how to run them to where it will be effeciant and not cause a problem. I figure there may be a person or two here that is either more electricly smart than I or has actually done this. Hope I can do it! Sounds FUN!

Sorry I can't give you any details, ... just thoughts.

Motor homes typically have two or three batteries, and one alternator. One battery is for the engine, the other two are of the deep cycle type that are used to run interior lights, and stuff. They are charged when the engine is running, but can be completly drained, but the engine will start with the one that is dedicated to it. In my motor home, there is also a switch, that I can press to temporarily connect the auxilary batteries to the engine battery to add their amperage if needed.

Here is something I found at JCWhitney that has a little diagram

why dont u go with the two batteries and a HD alternator, u can isolate a one battery so it will be the engine batt and not drain with ur accesories. and the other for all ur other stuff and the aternator will still charge the at the same time while running
