I have a stock 70 bronco, when i fill the tanks up and even if i dont top them off gas will run out and down the fender killing the paint. It is really weird.. some times it will not happen the day i fill up but a few days later.. I will walk out to the garage and there it is gas everywhere. what is causing this and what can i do to stop it. besides only filling up half way. the aux. tank has no venting and never did.. the main has a vent hose that runs up to just below the fill cap but both have gas running out the fill cap and down the fender.. and the 70 did not come with evap tanks ..

Do you have a vented gas cap? If not, get one. That might solve the issue by just doing that.

"......and there it is gas everywhere"

Are you kidding/exagerating..? ..You don't mean on the floor,etc...?

A little more specific please.....

Are you continuing filling after the pump clicks off...? (some don't consider that topping off..but it is)

If you top off (cold weather Kansas) & park in a warm garage...fuel can swell enough to trickle out.

This is a major fire hazzard as well...!!!

Ditto on the need to vent the tank. Have you checked the hose clamps and hose between the filler cap ant the tank?

Good luck,

If you can get a good look at the top of the gas tank, I assume there could also be a leak that leaks when the water line reaches it or when splashing around.. Anyways I hear they sell fuel tank epoxies used to fix cracks and holes in the tanks for cheap.

Good luck! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

*Reading a second time, I saw it's from the cap which blows my theory out of the picture.. Sorry.
