I need a fuel sending unit for the aux. and main tanks. The whole issue is that my fuel gauge doesn't work. I installed a new voltage regulator on the guage cluster and I think my temp. guage started working but my fuel guage is off. I filled up both tanks and the guage reads 3/4's on the main and about 1/4 on the aux. tank. So I'm thinking I need new sending units or float replacements.

???I see that Jeff's BG has the sending units for 50 bucks a piece and wild horses is about 65 a piece. Any reason why the price difference? Also WH's units don't have return lines. I have a '73 and it may have existing return lines. Are they necessary?

Thanks for the input.

My guess is that one of them wants more profit than the other. Never had a problem with things purchased from Jeff's

Good luck

I would imagine the return lines are for smog, but I dont know. If you have to pass a smog test, I would research if you need the return lines.

Yeah I hear ya, that's what I've been doing. It's just annoying and I'd rather get it working. I've almost got my rig where I want it and this is one of the last things on the list.

What I do..., is run the fuel low enough to pull the sending units, then ground the unit with a jumper wire & move the float by hand. Have someone watch the gage...if it goes E to F then it may need adjusting.

Also/or..., while out, you may notice the float is rotted, or full of fuel. Replace it & good to go.

May need a new "O" ring gasket.....

Connectors on wires need to be clean....use lime-away, rinse, & oil.

Yah , the volt. reg. controls the fuel, temp., & I believe the oil pres. gages.
