I have finally begun the restoration / modification on my '67. The frame is bare, (after many many knuckle busters, one broken "breaker" bar, and two cans of liquid wrench), and I am beginning to grind the surface rust off, polish it, and prep it for POR-15.

My one aching question right now is this: How do you restore the inside of the frame? I plan on sand-blasting the inside of it, and was considering trying to get some POR-15 pushed up into it. But I know in the aviation world, our helicopter skid tubes are filled with an anti-rust gas, I would think they'd have an anti-rust foam or something for auto frames. It just makes sense. If not, anybody want to start a business with me?

Please send me some ideas, because I'm starting paint this weekend. Thanks again.

For what it's worth to you  .

I am a fan of POR15 and have used in for several years now. If you call them, they probably will have some suggestions. I have also just started testing some environmentally safe and less caustic preparation products from a company that advertises at Supermotors named Orison. Their products are in use at many military sites for removing and controlling rust.

I had a couple of negative experiences with the POR15 preparation products, (my own fault due to not having the proper protective gear on). Phosphate splatter in the eyes hurts b-( . The neat thing about the Orison products is that it is non-caustic, environmentally safe and doesn't require any protective gear to handle. It is so safe that the USPS will allow it to be shipped by mail.

Once you get the frame cleaned, I'm pretty sure they have the product you need to treat the inside of the box beams.

Good luck,

:)>-
