My husband's '89 Bronco ll has had fluctuating temperature lately. He replaced the radiator(had a leak) and the water pump and the thermostat, but it didn't make a difference. Any ideas?

faulty temp sensor or gauge. install a manual temp gauge. the factory dummy gauges are notorious for giving false readings

I would also try changing the temp sensor or a mechanical temp guage.....get a flush kit and flush out the entire system while your at it, it cant hurt

Another possibility is the contact between the threads of the sender unit and the intake manafold are not making good contact. If he replaced the sender or had it out, he may have used RTV or Teflon tape as a seal, no good. The threads have to have good contact in order to provide a ground for that side of the sender. You will often find a ground strap from the back end of the intake manafold that is supposed to be attached to the firewall to make sure there is a good ground for the intake manafold.

Good luck,

:)>-

All I have to say is good luck and hope it's not something else big. I dealt with fluctuating temp on the 84 I had and went through a looong drawn out process just to discover two dead cylinders. What a nightmare....

Flushing out the system is a good idea in any case....this will also flush out the heater core which could be a possible culprit.
