I have a carb 302 I'm rebuilding and want it to have more power mainly low and mid range. Was thinking cam intake and headers. I want a cam with a little bit of lope in idle but not to much of sacrifice to the low end. Suggestions? Also thinking edelbrock performer intake long tube headers and port and polish stock heads. Comments or suggestions?

What you are describing, especially porting and polishing the heads, are mods to improve higher rpm power. loping in idle is a result of longer overlap in the cam. All those mods are wasted and can be detrimental if not tuned correctly to your carb, and your trans, and axle ratios.

If you really want low to mid range power, call someplace like Edelbrock, or Summit, and tell them what you have and what you want to accomplish. They will give you the correct parts with the specs for your goals.

Good Luck
