I know I've seen alot of talk about putting an overhead from an Explorer into a Bronco but I have not seen any of them mention the auto mirror. I bought one and was wondering if anyone knows how to hook up the additional 5 wires that plug into the back of the mirror?

Oh boy.. I think you may be SOL. I think that it pulgs into the GEM module. a Generic Electronic Module. I may be wroung, and it certainly won't be the first time. BTW a new GEM costs approx $237 american.

What year is your truck?

Please fill in your sig file with some of its info.

Well SOL is a place I tend to spend much of my time. If the mirror won't work I'll just install the overhead. I got the whole thing as a package from a friends wrecked truck.

If anyone know a way I can hook it up I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

I'm sure it can be done. What you need is an EVTM for the truck it came out of. Once you have that you will be able to see what is needed to make it run. What year Exploder  did it come from? I'd be interested in doing that myself. Is the truck still available to collect anything else you may need to make it run?

Good luck,

:)>-

I believe it was a 2000 Explorer. I pulled the parts a couple of months ago and the truck has since been sent to the scrap yard.

electrochromatic mirrors typically dont need any additional equipment to run. It should just need 12v and ground. the other leads probably went to the auto tinting drivers side mirror and maybe something else. if you can find a wiring diagram this should tell you(factory one not aftermarket manual). I think we have one at work for a 2000 i can check on when i get the chance.

I went onto an Explorer site and they gave me a link with directions for hooking it up in an Explorer. From what I read it should be no problem in the Bronco. I figured I share it as Seabronc said he would be interested in doing it himself. Here it is:

http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...threadid=84968

If it doesn't work for anybody let me know and I'll post the complete directions. I hope to work on the console and mirror this weekend and I do I'll post the outcome.

Thanks guys
