I'm looking at replacing the old exhaust on my 77 Bronco. It has the old glass packs on it now 26'' I like the flowmasters but the local shops say with the older Broncos you are limited on space. I have true duals on it now and they say the bigger muffler with the dual in & out would be to big such as the flowmaster. They said that 2 50 series could be mounted but they would hang lower than the glasspacks and would probably be a little louder. Anyway I'm thinking about just going back to the glasspack setup. I would like to know what anybody else might have done to their exhaust systems.

khouse, I just replaced the turbo mufflers with flowmasters. The new mufflers do not hang down, in fact they are tucked up much closer than the turbos. I'm very happy with the sound. Take your truck to another shop and see what they say.

I just put a new motor in my 91 .... just finished yesterday. I went with long tube headers. I am taking it in the morning to the exhaust shop and they are gone back hit glasspacks and turn the pipes out by the rear wheels...in front . I looked into the single pipe flow masters and the expence is much higher and I didnt like the sound. The shop is going to charge me $165 wglasspacks included, that is cheaper than just the cost of the flowmasters...$100 each.

I just installed dual flowmaster hushpower 2 mufflers. They are very compact and have an insulating jacket that is supposed to help keep them cool. I think the sound great but I went from the stock muffler to these so I don't know how they would compare to the sound of glasspacks.

Hey - Don't know if you're still looking into exhaust ideas but I'd like to say something about flowmaster. I had flowmaster super 40 mufflers installed (duals) this weekend. They will fit just fine. You will have to tilt them a bit but it's no big deal unless you have a show truck and are particular about that sort of thing. I didn't loose any clearance whatsoever and they sound awesome in my opinion, however I haven't heard any broncos that had glass packs or cherry bombs. I would also mention that the guy who install my exhaust (Mr. ****) said he didn't like dynaflow or magnaflow. Good Luck...

Did you say that the guy who installed your exhaust was called Mr **** ???? sorry, but I just had to ask.

HA HA HA, yeah that's right! Apparently he has a big sign that says.... so and so muffler shop. One night, one of his buddies played a joke on him and painted/blanked out the LER part. Then everyone started calling him "MR. ****". The guy is hilarious and a real character. Not to worry though, this guy has had the shop there for about 25 yrs and showed me pictures of various hot rods he'd helped to restore and his dragster, etc.... so he knew what he was doing despite the nickname.

I went with the glass packs 24 in. and they sound great and were alot cheaper than the flowmasters. They tucked up fine and the shop did a great job on the installation.

Thanks,

I've got dual flowmasters on my '73 & no problem at all - real clean install, just slightly tilted from vertical. Too loud for my neighborhood though, so I'm replacing soon.
