Hi Guys.

I need some help here, here's the background info for my problem.

So 4Hi worked fine multible times then I reconnected the magnetic clutch for 4Lo; it worked once then I got a "dead system" symptom. I changed the motor and speed sensor, still nothing. The shift module is showing 4 lights for the self test, the ground is good and I got continuity for the speed sensor at the sensor itself but nothing at the module for ohms. ( suppose to be 225-275) Can anyone help me with this? thank you!

yo SGT,

In Four Wheel Drive (4X4) General Information, Operation & Troubleshooting TSB 92-1-8 for Bronco, F Series & Ranger (COMPLETE); Includes Electric Shift On The Fly (ESOF) Troubleshooting & Hub Operation; same for 87-96;

The speed sensor should show 225-275 ohms with the vehicle stopped. Check at the module connection. Look for corrosion/or what Ford call, Terminal (male pins or female sockets become dislodged) Backout, within connector; as well as da wires and strands within same.

Check both the motor position sensors and the wiring harness at B4, B5, B6 and B7 and the input from B8 (see Figure 21). Make sure the harness is OK first, then check the contacts against the chart in Figure 23. Each valid combination of open and closed switches indicates a different position of the motor. For example, at the 4H position, B7 is closed, B6 is closed, B5 is open and B4 is open. Besides the three main positions (2H, 4H and 4L), intermediate positions are also shown - three between 2H and 4H and three bewteen 4H and 4L (see Figure 20 and the chart in Figure 23). Combinations other than those shown in Figure 23 indicate a defective motor sensor assembly.

Look for problems with the electric magnetic clutch, the clutch ground or the clutch itself. Check the wiring harness as well.

same as above, Look for corrosion/or what Ford call, Terminal (male pins or female sockets become dislodged) Backout, within connector; as well as da wires and strands within same.
