Going to swap in a 5.0EFI into my 76. I have a 90 mustang for a doner. My plan is to pull the wiring & motor and put it on a stand for now. I plan on changing out the rear seal gasket, valve cover gaskets, & oil pan gasket? Is there anything else that can be done while the motor is out? Also will the mustang oil pan clear in the eb? I have 4" of lift but i think there might be clearance issues. Would the stock 302 pan work on the mustang motor? Any issues with oil pump suction or anything?

There shouldn't be any issue using your old pan. A 302 is a 5.0 and vice versa. Is your lift suspension or body? If it is suspension, it will give you more clearance because it lifts the frame & everything, if it is body only, then there might be clearance issues. I have never used a 'stang pan before.

While it is on the stand, you might go over the water pump & thermostat to make sure that they aren't leaking.

Might be a good time to do the frost plugs. If you change the oil pan be sure you have the correct oil pump pick up tube for that pan. Also another thing to consider, the 5.0 has the oil dipstick in the oil pan whereas the old 302's have them in the timing chain cover.
