Ok so I have a 1996 Bronco with the 5.0. It came with a 5.0 factory but I can`t say that this motor is the OE motor. The problem I am having is my EGR tube is broken in half and I can`t find a replacement. Went to Ford and this is where my problems start. The part they have and in the pictures they show the EGR tube going from the EGR valve into the exhaust manifold but my truck has it going from the EGR valve into the intake. I cant get to it without taking the upper intake manifold off. But they don`t match. So anyone with a 1996 5.0 where is your EGR tube going? How do I find out what year the motor is? Thanks for any help with this issue.

John

yo JOHN,

I didn't see your other similar post in the Tech section, so I posted here.

My 96's 5.0 EGR Tube (also called EGR AIR TUBE) is connected to da intake manifold's exhaust passage and then goes to the EGR Valve,

BUT a 1996 Bronco 5.8 is connected to passenger side exhaust manifold;

My 5.0's & your 5.0 EGR Tube has 2 smaller diameter tubes going to the Differential Pressure Feedback (DPFE) Sensor (via two silicone high temp hoses of different diameters; see info on these below) as you show in your second pic at http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/born4mud/DSC02954.jpg

If you had a 5.8 plugged in there originally, the DPFE is mounted on passenger side, high, next to throttle body and in front of intake manifold; just above alternator;

Look here;

On-Line for Free at Ford.

Click "Quick Guides" in left panel; Scroll to & CLICK VECI Labels "Provides Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) and a related calibration parts list."

Enter applicable info (need to know your Calibration number from your B-pillar sticker). Vacuum Diagram is the same as the one on the core support or hood or air filter cover.

DPFE HOSES; 1L3Z-9P761-AA - 1/4" for REF - Downstream hose (INTAKE)

DPFE HOSES; 1L3Z-9P761-BA - 5/16" for Upstream hose (EXHAUST)

I went to my local Ford dealer for the hoses, they off one-foot lengths; about $10.00 foe each!

Next is to see if engine is original;

VIN Location; "...On the door frame/door post of the front doors (usually driver's but sometimes passenger's); On the dash near the windshield; On the engine itself (machined pad on front of engine); On the car's firewall - In the left-hand inner Wheel arch; On the steering wheel/steering column; On the radiator support bracket.."

Some excerpts;

"...EGR - They use different exhaust tubes to connect the EGR to the exhaust. The 5.0L gets exhaust from the lower intake, while the 5.8L gets exhaust from the passanger exhaust manifold.

The positive ID is to measure the lower intake

302 is aprox ~ 8 inches wide

351 is aporx ~ 11 inches wide

The 5.0L uses squared ports and the 5.8L uses oval ports. If you get an intake from a junk yard it will have the matching fuel rail."

Also check the PCM (computer, EEC V) Calibration number to that shown on your B-pillar Sticker.

Calibration Code Location & pic; on PCM @ Drivers side kick panel. "...The 1996-2007 Ford codes are directly above the UPC stamp on the white label which is glued to the ECU connector, and on a black plastic cover on the computer J3 port. Ford Codes are always 3 letters and one number; also see your Calibration number from your B-pillar sticker..."

Thank you for all the information. Sorry about posting it twice I did not know where I posted the first post so I reposted then I found both. The bronco is at the shop now for a rear-end and driveshaft work but I will look at the vin and info when I get it back. Thanks again.
