yo JOHN,
I didn't see your other similar post in the Tech section, so I posted here.
My 96's 5.0 EGR Tube (also called EGR AIR TUBE) is connected to da intake manifold's exhaust passage and then goes to the EGR Valve,
BUT a 1996 Bronco
5.8 is connected to passenger side exhaust manifold;
My 5.0's & your 5.0 EGR Tube has 2 smaller diameter tubes going to the Differential Pressure Feedback (DPFE) Sensor (via two silicone high temp hoses of different diameters; see info on these below) as you show in your second pic at

If you had a 5.8 plugged in there originally, the DPFE is mounted on passenger side, high, next to throttle body and in front of intake manifold; just above alternator;

Some excerpts;
"...EGR - They use different exhaust tubes to connect the EGR to the exhaust. The 5.0L gets exhaust from the lower intake, while the 5.8L gets exhaust from the passanger exhaust manifold.
The positive ID is to measure the lower intake
302 is aprox ~ 8 inches wide
351 is aporx ~ 11 inches wide
The 5.0L uses squared ports and the 5.8L uses oval ports. If you get an intake from a junk yard it will have the matching fuel rail."

Also check the PCM (computer, EEC V) Calibration number to that shown on your B-pillar Sticker.
Calibration Code Location & pic; on PCM @ Drivers side kick panel. "...The 1996-2007 Ford codes are directly above the UPC stamp on the white label which is glued to the ECU connector, and on a black plastic cover on the computer J3 port. Ford Codes are always 3 letters and one number; also see your Calibration number from your B-pillar sticker..."
