when i go to start my bronco its a 93 5.8, it has a hard time really starting good when i leave it sit over night or for a long while, but if i get it started and drive it a while it starts perfectly fine the rest of the day untill i let it sit over night again? any suggestions to the problem?
have you done a fuel pressure check?
3 test need to be done.
1. koeo test, ck pressure
2. run test:
a. engine running & pressure reg with vac on.
b. engine running & pressure reg vac removed and hose capped.
3. engine off fuel pressure "leak down" test.
a bad regulator could cause "cold start" problems.
the leak down test if it is out of specs would be the main reason for hard "cold" starts as the fuel pressure drops when the pump is off, as the check valve is sticking open, letting the fuel pressue drop to 0 and the pump doesnt build enough pressure for the 1st start.
check fuel regulator 1st, 1 psi out of spec on any of the test, replace it 1st, then redo the leak down test.
you can also try this. turn key on, you hear the pump come on. when it turns off, turn key off then back on. do it 2 or 3 times then start the old girl & see if that helps. if it does, you have either a bad regulator or a bad check valve in the high pressure pump....
been there, done that...
