Hi all,

I would like to know if theres any 2" lift block kit for the rear end of my 1973, and if I can use the stock shocks with a 2" lift (no off road driving). Also, what is the maximum tire I can install on stock rims and 2" lift?

My other question, is for a engine swap on another 1973 of a friend. He is thinking on put in a 351 Cleveland/C6 transmission, so what modifications are involved? Engine mounts, radiator, C6/Dana20 adapter, etc. This parts are actually manufactured?

These are two of the few surviving early Broncos in Spain.

Thankyou for any help!

Is the rig (73) sagging/lower in the rear now, as it sits..?

If so, then 2" blocks will work, & get you back to near level, or maybe a bit higher in the rear...which is fine. You won't need longer shocks.

If it's already higher in the rear...then lifting the rear (2") may require lifting the front as well.

This would be better achieved with a complete lift kit....say, 2.5 inches.

2" blocks are available at Pep Boys, & many other auto parts stores.

32's is prob. as big a tire I'd go ......gearing is going to be a bit higher though.

What eng. is comm'n out...? Overheating is the #1 prob. with a 351.

Depends on orig. eng. as to what other mod/expenses rear their ugly heads.

Yes, anything is possible with $$$

Thankyou for the replies.

The reason is I want to lift the Bronco 2 inches. For the front end I am thinking on James Duff coils, but for the rear I do not want an add-a-leaf, I prefer blocks. Like 2" are not excessive, I think rear blocks will do it well. But I do not find it, I was thinking it was not manufactured for the early Bronco. Can fit the early Bronco 9" rear and stock leaf springs a block kit for a full-size Bronco? I have a Rancho block kit for the full-size unused.

About the wheels, the stock rims on my 1973 are 15X5.5, I think. I ask about the max tire looking on the stock uncut rear fenders (sorry I must said it before) . A 10.5 wide tire looks to me it will rub in the fender?

About my friend, he is crazy!!! I think the money of the engine swap would be better invested on performance parts for the 302, suspension etc...

Thanx!

--- "For the front end I am thinking on James Duff coils"---

That's fine...but doing just the coils (front lift) will ruin your alignment W/O the "C" bushings.....sooooo, might as well do all the bushings while it's apart.

---"I was thinking it was not manufactured for the early Bronco"---

The blocks are pretty much universal....they should be as wide as your leaf springs, have the locater pin already on them, & of course come with new U-bolts.

New 11-pack 2" or 2-1/2" leaf springs come with all the new rear spring & hangar bushings. (yours may well be shot--mine were)

This will give a smooth ride & won't need blocks.

Jose, not to shoot you in the foot, but I wouldn't trust a block under the rear to save my life. If you are wanting an easy and cheap lift, do a SuperLift but if you want it done correctly, I would suggest that you order a complete kit from BC Broncos or Wild Horses. Both are better kits than the Duff kits. I know guys who bought the Duff and then kicked themselves in the rear for not buying one of the others.

Just my opinion though.
