did a smoke show last night in my 89 xlt, now the E-brake light and rear antilock light wont go off. i un hooked the battery thinking it might reset someting...wrong, the E-brake still works great. so why wont the light go off? im tempted to pull the light bulbs lol i was going to get rid of the antilock anyway when i do an axle swap. any one else have some thing like this happen?

I'd be sure to check the fluid level under the hood, before you pull your dash out to remove the light. That's the only reason mine has ever gone off.

Did you try going under your car and pulling the E-brake and have someone in ther to see if that makes the light go off. thats what I hade to do to mine.

I recall that another poster a while back noted that his e brake switch was not being contacted with a lever from the pedal or something like that. Take a look at the mechanical connection to the switch by the driver's left foot.
