I bought a 1993 Ford Bronco as a parts truck for my 1982 Bronco. But when I got it home, it turns out its in much better shape than my 82. Its missing the entire drivetrain. V8 engine/AT trans/T-Case. Now i have four options as I see it.

1) What used engine tranny combo would fit the 93 model and be a bolt in?

2) My 1982 has a good 6 cyl engine and manual tranny/case, couldn't i just pull it and drop it in my newly aquired 1993 model?

3) Follow original plan and move the good axle to my 1982 and use as much of the sheetmetal as possible on the 82? ( needs rear axle to drive as-is)

4) Stop screwing around with junk and buy a decent Bronco off Craigslist?

The drivetrain combos are almost endless :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Something easy would be a 302/AOD/NP208. You can easily install a 6cyl 300, 8cyl 302,351 (Windsor or Milford/Modified),400,429 or 460. Auto tranny choices would be C6, AOD or E4OD and T-cases would be NP208, BW1356 or NP205(the 205 will bolt most easily to the C6. Adapters or machine work will mate it to the others)

The drivetrain from the 82' will fit the 93

Your original plan will ALSO work just fine

You have 2 Broncos already why buy a third ?

It will all come down to just how much work you want to put into it.

Can i use the motor mounts from the 1982 model Bronco in the 1993 Bronco, and is it a big deal to move the clutch assembly under the dash? see any potential pitfalls with this idea? I'm thinking just pull it all out together and bolt it in the 1993.

One potential pitfall is i don't have a title to the 1993 model, so would i have to put the 1983 front clip on the 1993 or just swap out the id plate? The one benefit to my Bronco remaining a 1993 model is that its exempt from emmissions testing and I can run Antique tags on it with out any hassle.

Well, as a former Mass. police officer I can tell you that swapping that VIN tag from the 82' to the 93' is a pretty bad idea. Either find a way to legally title the 93' or swap the parts into your 82'. Screwing around with VIN tags is a federal offense (and that's federal with a *capital* F). Don't do it. Putting the 82' clip on the 93' wouldn't work anyways, the VIN is on the dash, the data sticker on the door, the engine block & on the frame itself. Beyond that rivets that are used to attach the dash tags are manufacturer specific, using a standard or incorrect pop rivet is a big red flag to anyone from the Registry or Law enforcement.

The 82' motor mounts will physically swap into the 93' but will only work with another 6cyl, V8's use a different mount.

The only good (read "good" as "not a felony" or "non-arrestable") option you have is to swap the 93' axle & sheetmetal onto the 82'. Your 93' isn't good for anything other than parts or *strictly* off-road use.

I do have the 93's title now, the guy found it.

I still haven't decided which way to go yet, it was snowing when i got the 93 today, so i haven't really looked over the 93 much. It appears to be missing the tailgate, and interior door panels, naturally their power, its an Eddie Bauer.

Some tof the wiring looks pretty cut up under the hood. The rednecks i bought it from apparently yanked the motor out with a pair of wire cutters and a screwdriver.
