Hi,

Because my powerwindow isn't working anymore, I want to remove the door panel. It's a 1986 Bronco.

What is the procedure?

Are there any screws that must come out first?

Are is it just the pins that come out first?

Does anyone have a picture how to remove the panel? like a Haynes drawing?

grtz

I've found the same link on the internet. This link starts with "Pry the window switch out of the door panel with your trim tool"

Surfing the internet I found another link saying that first you have to remove the doorpanel and then the window switch.

Both links do not show where the screws(and other things that hold the doorpanel) are.

So if anyone has a picture, I'd be gratefull

On an 86 you need to remove the panel with the map pocket first. It has several screws around the edge. You will then find a couple of screws at the bottom of the panel. Then remove the ***** you can see inside the arm rest pocket. The main panel it's self is held on by plastic buttons which you will have to pry out by slipping something like a flat bar between the metal door and the panel, start along the bottom. Once you get one or two loose the rest will be easier and you can use your hand to feel along the edge to find where to tug on it.

The switch can be disconnected by either method you were previously told. On the back side the wire harness connects to it with a plug right at the switch.

Before you pull the motor out, try using a set of jumpers and connect the motor leads to a 12V source to see if it is actually bad. Reversing the leads reverses the direction of the motor. If it works with the jumpers, you probably have a broken wire where the wires go from the body to the door. They get flexed a zillion times and after a while tend to break. If the motor doesn't work with jumpers, then it will probably be much easier to replace the motor with the window regulator mechanism out of the door. That's another story. I can do this blindfolded so I may have left something out
