how can you tell what distributor? the guy at the shop asked me and i idient know how to tell he asked me what gear iron or steal and i just looked at him liike he was crazy. how can i tell what i need help!!!! its a 90 5.8ltr xlt

1990 351 didnot have a roller cam i think it was 94and up 351 with the roller cam as for the distrubutor gear i'm not sure

My take is this guy was trying to make a fool out of you.

(Must assume you didn't have the truck with you)

If it's a stock unit it should have a tag on it somewhere, (Motorcraft) & part numbers.

It is a different gear used on the distributor because the roller cams are billet steel and will eat a regular distributor gear . I know on the 5.0 roller motors the distributor is actually a bit longer shaft at the end , The iron one is the one for non roller motors /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

the motorcraft number is 54te-12132c on my distributer
