I was curious if anyone put an hei distributor in their bronco instead of the stock ignition. I see them on ebay for around 50 to 100 dollars, but the msd are about $300. Is there room to fit the hei and is this a real plus or just more luxury item that offers little performance upgrade. Any suggestions on good products/distributors since I may just replace it with a "high voltage coil".

".....or just more luxury item that offers little performance upgrade."

Truth told.., (I may get an argument or two here) the high power, elect. ignitions don't do much for a low rev. 4x4.....at least that you will notice in the seat of your pants.

Having said that, the stock ford elect. dizzys are fine...usually just need a module up-grade.

"....may just replace it with a "high voltage coil".

To reiterate...one can't tell the diff. between a 20yr. old coil or a brand new one.....they work or they don't.

But..' like I said...I've seen'm drop dead...then pop back to life..!!!

An orig. dizzy can develop a wobble...causing irattic performance.... :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

@-) @-) Been a while....I forgot, what exactly are the symptoms at this point..?

That stock 302 ran smooth & strong when new & should do so now....with all components in working order.

Is that the correct size carb. (Ebrock) on there...?

I installed an HEI distributor on my 71' with out a body lift you have to cut the hood suports up abit. I cut them and welded them to the sheet metal as to not weeken the hood to much. also when installed most larger aftermarket air filters wont fit due to the distributor being in the way. But I did notice a difference in the way it runs and a bit better mpg as well
