I was looking at my wires this morning and I put my hand on my dist. cap. Well, the whole distributor stem moved. Is there supposed to be play in this? I've never really messed with them before, and I didn't put too much pressure on it because I didn't want to mess it up. I looked on my friends bronco and it didn't have any give in it. Does this mean my distributor is bad? or should I be able to tighten it up? I just don't want to try to fix something that isn't broken. Any Help?

Set the dist back to where it was, tighten the 1/2 inch bolt to the block.

Theyre should be NO PLAY on your distributer.Check just below it and make sure your lock down isnt missing. If it is,about $5.00 at the local auto parts can get you a chrome one.If its still there, then take Yardapes advise and put'r back, and tighten'r down.
