What is a rear window regulator switch assembly? My 1994 XLT is in the body shop for a tailgate swap. (Started with broken window. Long story) Anyway, the last part missing before the change can be done is a "window regulator switch assembly" whatever that is. It was described to me as a "Solenoid type thing that goes after the key on the tailgate." I have the ford part number. It is F2TZ-14529-B (the rear window has defroster). Any idea what this is, what it does, and where I can get one? 2 national ford dealer searches, and phone calls to Tom's Bronco parts, Bronco Graveyard, LMC, and Green Sales still turn up nothing. :angry:

That Ford PN but without the B ( F2TZ-14529) comes up as;

1992-1996 Bronco New Dash Mounted rear window switch OE

Brand new Genuine Ford Dash Mounted Rear window switch for 1992-1996 Bronco This is the new improved version and is not the old version. This is the complete plug in unit and is ready to go! This is not a cheap Chinese imitation; this is brand new in the Ford box

But that prob isn't it at all

So. print these Parts Break-Out Diagrams by Steve83and ask the shop to indicate what they need;

Here is Steve's detailed TG repair Site... they will prob need all of this esp since they have no clue as to what they need...

They prob need the Latch Safety Switch "...The safety switch was moved from the tailgate handle to the left latch by 1983..." Source: by Seabronc (Rosie, Fred W) at Ford Bronco Zone Forums

Latch Safety Switch "...This is the switch on the driver's latch that prevents the motor from operating with the tailgate open. Ford put it here from ~'85 until '96. Before that, it was on the center mechanism and was sensitive to EITHER latch being open. To permanently defeat it (and risk breaking the t/g glass), unplug its connector & install a jumper wire between the 2 sockets.." Source: by Steve83

You can prob get what you need at a local yard.. call a few and see if they have a Big Bronco w/tg parts around. Or contact Steve83 here by his e mail link if his Profile; he'll reply.. haven't seen him post here in past week = may be on a vacay.. also see the Parts For Sale Section here; he posted a lot of the stuff he has there.. he gets parts nearly weekly...

Also. since they'll prob frig this up too;

the factory rear defrost button is on the right side of the steering wheel, next to the A/C vent. It is completely out of line of site, about halfway down the dash. Pretty dumb spot if you ask me.

Thats odd. I figured they all had them. Maybe at some point someone changed the dash trim, and put one in from a pick-up? Just for the **** of it I would take the trim off and see if there is a connector there. Never know.

After MUCH searching, I found out that the part I need is no longer available because it is now part of the OEM tailgate wiring harness. Thank you, JBG, and all who posted!!!
