The 78 bronco I bought last week has a problem and my husband and I are stumped. First, it's got a 460 built up to a 506, MSD ignition, had a Holley 850. It dies while running; sometimes in idle, always at some point while driving. We've replaced the plugs, fluids, fan, thermostat, ignition module, upgraded the alternator, distributor seems fine, replaced the Holley with an Edelbrock 800 and nothing fixed the problem. We did notice that the previous owners had installed a Moroso coil and a stock ignition module. Don't know much about MSD, but could this be part of the problem? Any suggestions???????

Anything could be part of the problem. I have had a MSD ignition for 2 years now with no problems . Have you checked for loose wires? If the white wire on that MSD gets grounded it will shut it down. Some people use the white wire as an anti theft method.

Good luck,

:)>-

could be...we ran into the guy that built it (small town) and he did say the fuel pump is a little to small but the only time that caused a problem before was when you opened her up for a long while...we'll have to check into that a little more.

Checked the wires and they all seem fine. One thing is...when we replaced the ignition module, we only replaced what was in there before (which turned out to be a stock part). Maybe somehow it's not compatible with the MSD?
