Hi all, I am looking at a '88 F-150 at the salvage yard with a sticker on the door jam. It is "TG4" under the axle sticker.

I am assuming the TG is the rear axle and the 4 is the front axle. I am looking for a 4.10 gear ratio.

There is no tag on the front Dana 44 and also, the rear axle is gone. I would like to know if anyone who can decode this for me?

Thanx in advance,

Allcruisen

I have never seen an axle code like that. As far as I know F150 - 350 had codes that had 1, 2, 3, 4,5, B, C, D, E or H as the first digit and a 1 - 9 as the second digit and nothing or 2 as the 3rd digit. Are you sure you are looking at the axle code? It is the last set of digits on the right bottom of the safety compliance sticker. It looks like you have the transmission character T = AOD and perhaps one of the axle codes such a 34 with a smugged first character. A 34 would be a Dana 3.73. The codes across the bottom are WB = Wheel Base, Type GVW, Body, Trans, and Axle.

The F150 had either a Ford, Ford limited slip, Dana or Dana limited slip differential. On a F150, the 4.10 came in the Dana axles with code 32 (6250 lb), 42 (7400), 52 (7400), 62 (8200), C2(6250 LS), D2 (7400 LS) or E2 (7400 LS).

However, it could have been a special order wierd configuration, perhaps why the rear axle was removed. I'm looking for an expanded list of axles that I know I have some place. If I find it I'll update this reply.

Hope that helps you find what you are looking for.

Good luck,

:)>-
