man i got a dana 44 and a dana 60 in decent shape for $300. That is your call but im gonna say thats not a real good deal.

If its your only option then jump but I find that steep too. On the other hand if you get lucky and find a jewel for a couple hundred you will be putting in far more than 1000 to get it in the same shape

D60's aren't usually cheap. I see a lot of them go for anywhere from $300 to $1200 so what he's asking is in the upper range but not outrageous. What I've found in the past though is that once you start talking about $1K or above it's usually a better deal to just look around for an entire truck being sold cheap or for parts. You can score an entire drivetrain that way and unless it's been rolled, lit on fire or just really trashed you can usually recoup some of the purchase price by parting out what you don't need. Just my thoughts on the issue.
