Custom Bumper

I've been debating this for a while but I decided to start it. I'm building my custom front bumper. I designed it around a 8000# winch. I mounted the winch on 1/2" plate and the rest is 1/4" plate. I know it's heavy but it's what I had available. Let me know what everyone thinks.

Very nice job! Being a structural welder myself, i would suggest some gussets behind the angled ends. Also the 1/4 in. plate will bend if you use those shackles, you might wanna reinforce behind them with 1/2 in. plate. But a very nice job, well done.

Thanks budster95. You cant see it but there are some 1/4" stiffener plates behind that were not installed when the pictures were taken. I'm a Mechanical Engineer and designed it for 8000# plus a extra 25% impact. I just wish my welding skills were up to par with the design. lol

Here are a couple more pictures.

I finished welding the 1/4" plates. It took for ever do to the duty cycle of my little welder.



This is a picture of the mounting and stiffener plates behind the shackles.



Tomorrow I will add the receiver tube and start the bottom plates to finish it all off.
