I have a 1995 Eddie Bauer. Today the cruise control refused to engage. I admit this not a big problem but I sort of like having cruise control. This is the first time I have had any problem out of the cruise control. I exhausted my knowledge on this subject by checking the fuse and all the systems that operate off that fuse seem to be working correctly. Any suggestions?

A lot of things could cause this problem, but a couple of quick things to check would be the vacuum switch attached to the brake peddle, the vacuum line to it, the vacuum line to the cruise control servo from the main vacuum tree on the intake manifold, the pressure switch on the master cylinder and the connection to it.

Good luck,

:)>-

I think I'm screwed. I appreciate the replies/advice but none of it worked. Trying to decide if it is worth a trip to the repair or if I will just go old school and use my foot on the interstate.

You could pull the cruise control stuff out of a truck in one of your local friendly auto recyclers.

Any 93 - 96 f150, f250, f350, Bronco should work.

Good luck,

:)>-

You may be screwed even more if you or a previous owner didn't have the RECALLwork done. If you didn't have it done and can'y figure out if it was done by someone else, call or go to Local Ford dealer and ask them or ck on-line @ FORD; https://myford.fordvehicles.com/servlet/Con...6ord%3D15419550

Includes Owner Guides (Manuals), free download for 96 to current year, register to view w/VIN; includes Warranty Guide & Scheduled Maintenance Guide Plus Recall Notices, etc,

I had the same problem with my bronco. I had actually gotten the recall work done but the part broke, all i had to do was replace that part and it fixed it. Look at the front of your master cylinder, if there is brake fluid leaking from around this area then you will need to replace the cruise control switch on top of it. To fix the problem of the trucks catching on fire ford put a inline fuse for the cruise control switch, which is what the recall did and yours probably tripped. The part is cheap, like 20 dollars and takes less than 5 min. to install. Hope that helps

No one posted anything that would "work" - all we gave you were diagnostic steps. So if you followed them, you WOULD get a result, no matter what. And once we know what you found, we can tell you what to do to fix your cruise. But you have to actually DO what's described, exactly.
Or you could pay someone locally, or just drive w/o cruise.
Maybe I should have added a few things, and now that I am feeling insulted by this condescending reply post I will add a little more detail. I DID call Ford and all recalls have been completed on my Bronco, I DID check all the fuses and none were blown, I DID check all the other systems that operate off of the same fuses and they all work, I DID those troubleshooting items listed in the attachments on your post and still have no cruise control. This is what I meant when I posted that none of it worked, you are correct I DID get a result, a negative result but a result just the same. If I misinterupted your reply then I apologize.

Once again I appreciate ALL the advice, which is the reason why I check this page before taking the truck to the shop. I have yet to post a problem or see someone post a problem that does not get at least one response with some suggestions that might fix the problems. I do expect a fix to everything I post on here, but all help is greatly appreciated.

I have not had time to check what Cocobum's sugestion but will do so soon.

Mine in my truck (ya I know it's a diesel not a bronco) went out three times, first time was lack of vacuum, second time it seemed to fix it self after a couple months, third time it was a fuse in the under hood fuse box. I was also told there are two or three sensors in the column that can affect your cruise control.
