Hey guys its not for my bronco but you guys always have the best answers.

alright here's the background 79 ford thunderbird ( one of the big ones) Engine and transmission from 69 Mercury Marquis

429 thunderjet and C6, engine is at around 370 hp and 450 ft lbs, Transmission just rebuilt with tci pro super kit rated for 400 hp + ( for longevity) And I'm undecided with the torque converter to use. I've already paid for a tci 11" breakaway torque converter with a rated 2400 to 2600 stall. But I just got the local napa store to ship in a stock converter.

I don't race aside from the occasional ricer or **** on the highway. I like cruising, and not beating the **** out of it all the time ( it is a luxury car) this is my summer daily driver.

there is a tranny cooler at the place I got the tci stuff from so cooling is not an issue. it usually cruises at between 2200 and 2500 rpm on highway so will it just be slipping a lot? also I do like slow in town rides, with the weight of the car will that be affected as well?

I'm at my wits end, I can't get my money back at this point, and if I can sell it, the stock one will be 200 after taxes. I can easily swing it, but I can't make up my mind, and I don't want to tear it apart too many more times to see which one I like better.

24 to 2600 is pretty steep for a big block, I would personally look for a 15 to 1800 rpm torque convertor

yeah I'm leaning with going with the stock one I found. but I have the tci one either way, untill i can sell it, but I bet not too many people needing a 1.85 crank pilot converter for a c6 want to go up to 24 to 2600 stall either.
