i have a 1985 f150 4x4. i have a clunk in the front end. i found it is coming from drivers side when brakes are applied and i see the front axle where the radius arm connects at bottom moves when brakes applied. bolt is tight whats up could the hole where the bolt goes in be worn out. i was thinking of welding arm brackets to axle housing any thoughts thx jeff

The hole could be worn out.But that is not something tha tyou want to weild. All those parts need to be able to be removed and replaced if need be.Need to take it apart to get a closer look to find the problem.how does the radius arm bushing look?

I would be apt to think that the radius arm bushing or bracket at the frame would wear first, that is actually how it is designed so that it is easier to fix. the bushing is as easy to replace as jacking up the front, taking off the radius arm nut, unbolting the radius arm bracket and swapping the rubber parts, the bracket is virtually the exact same process to replace.

I had a 80 bronco that the radius arm bracket was worn enough that the axle would shift under hard braking causing the bronco to pull hard to the drivers side.
