Firstly no Bronco came stock with a spool. And second that is true, you will have to get a new diff depending on the gear ratio. I do not know the lowest gears you can put in a stock diff but I'm pretty sure its lower than 4.10 If you take a trip to Jeffs Bronco Graveyard site, they can tell how low you can go. I am pretty sure you can stuff 4.56's in at least.

its depends on if its a full spool or a mini-spool. if its a mini, yes you'll need to change your carrier, but the spool will go right back in. if its a full spool, i dont see why you'd need to change it, since there are no cross pins or set screws to worry about

Hello its kinda crazy to run a spool on a truck run on the pavement talk about ******* tires but hey its only money right . As for the ford 8.8 there is no carrier change one carrier all ratios . Its not like the dana 44 or 60 where theres like 3 different carriers so if your mechanic told you that you would have to change the carrier I think Id find another mechanic . If you question this info do a search for ford 8.8 carrier change . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I checked Broncograveyard, and for a stock carrier they show 4.56 and down for one and anything over needs a different carrier. For the 8.8

Ok look at this link this is for all types of differentials for the ford 8.8 when you click on the type you want notice in the description that it says ALL RATIOS this means that there is NO carrier change for any gear ratio in an 8.8 that is one good thing about this rear end try that with a dana 60 or 44 youll come up with atleast 3 different carriers better yet look up a Dana 61 with 4:10 now thats an oddball . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Have you done this before? If not you might want to try and find a pinion depth gauge. I want to do mine but i'm too chicken. After getting that $5500.00 quote I just might work up the courage.
