i got a 1990 EB with a 351w. i recently pushed me some full length heddman headers and am about to redo my exhaust. It has two stock catalytic converters and i was wondering if i remove them and replace them with one performance cat will it affect my engine and mpg?

The cat burns the unburnt fuel, if you remove it you have unburnt fuel polluting the air. Most dont care about that but you will get noticeable smoke and a bad exhaust smell.
