I did try a search but nothing came up,

Has anyone installed the Carr Super Hoop side steps?  Their instructions **** to say the least.  If anyone has installed them can you take a picture of where they mount to?  It looks like from the instruction it mounts to the rockers, but the instructions talk about taking up the carpet runner.

It doesn't help that it looks like they changed the mounting brackets, mine are totally different from the youtube videos I found.

Any help would be great!

Thanks guys!

yo b,

I see that the Carr site is hacked, so I can't go to see the instructions; if they are general install instructions that cover all vehicle makes, then some vehicles may need carpet runner removal to install.

After drilling clean remove burrs;  I coat all holes w/primer using swabs or whatever, a coat of paint and then before inserting fasteners, a dab of silicone sealer.

Here are some Carr Step Install pics to rockers by Jeff @ http://www.supermotors.net/registry/5369/55045

I can't see if they are Super Hoop version.

Jeff wrote elsewhere, "BTW, does anyone know if they make hardened carriage bolts? I twisted off one of the new bolts by torquing too much, and had to replace it. I'm worried that 220+ pounds might be too much for the bolts to handle at some point, and would like some insurance. I mounted it right where I step on the sill to climb in; I just gotta remember that I'm starting 6 or 8 inches further out when I lift myself in. I've already nailed the top of the doorway once. Won't do that again!
I know what you mean about getting the ladies in; I have the same problem with my wife. Even the step isn't quite enough. I need to figure out a place to mount a panic handle on that side so that she has a place to grab hold of. The gutter is just barely at the tip of her fingers, and I don't want to mount one of those big fancy handles on the outside; that looks too much like an "old folks" accessory to me. Something mounted on the dash or the front pillar would be perfect. "

Had to cut away a good section of the plastic A pillar molding but I Like it. Also can't use the vent window, but I don't sit over there anyhow"

Just in case, I got a set of Smittybilt Nerf Steps as a gift over 12 years ago; black powdercoating still look good wth no rust; attaches to body mount and leaf spring bracket

"Front mounting: Instead of replacing the body mount bolt, they supplied a 2 inch deep nut that simply threads on. It's hidden by that nice stainless steel tube.
Rear mounting: Another long nut connects the L bracket to the body while a clamp and plate connect to the frame. It may have been designed to sit back a little further but my 1994 had little posts sticking through the frame"  pics are gone

Thanks miesk5 that's exactly where I thought they would mount.

I could deal with the bracket that you see when the door is open, but what they gave me are 1 1/4" x 2 1/2" rectangular 'washers' (that's what they call them).  Like I said, they will look awful...  functional but awful!

I probably could return them with a restocking fee...

I like the step itself, just not the visible (and ugly) mounting bracket.  I wasn't sure about the nerf bars, do they come in black powder coat?  I don't want anything gloss or shiny.

When it says no-drill brackets, what does it mount to... an existing frame mount or something?

I'm going to contact CARID Monday and see if they can send a one piece inner mount like in the picture of your first post.  If they can I'll stay with these, if not I'll ask about a refund and check into the ones from Bronco Graveyard (if they come in black powdercoat).  I've ordered TONS of stuff from Jeff and have a huge wish list that I keep plugging away at lol

Smittybilt Sure Steps are black gloss powdercoated,  They do not show installation pics or further info on their public view site.  BUT I was able to get into the doc section!

I called CARR and they said they don' have a mounting bracket like in the picture you showed and said if I wanted they would give me a full refund.

I really do like the look of the black powder coat Super Hoops.  I'm going to see if I can make a nicer looking mounting bracket out of diamond plate.  That wouldn't look bad since I am doing the Bronco with diamond plate trim.  In fact it would fit right in.  :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
