i've heard of kit's out there to switch from a carb to efi for older engines. does anybody know of any good sites on this subject? i found some parts at jc whitney but everybody else just carries the carbs. plus what are the up and down side's of switching it over in the engine, i.e. gas mileage, hp,....?

thanks

im more of a carb guy i've done numerous efi to carb swaps havent done any carb to efi swaps though. i know you'd need the computer and all the wiring for it not sure how much other work is involved though and i havent heard of or seen any kits to do that but i also havent checked into it

Check out http://www.fordfuelinjection.com and http://www.ronmorrisperformance.com . It is a matter of personal choice. I perfer carbs since changes to the engine don't require reprogramming and they don't refuse to run because a sensor is bad. An injected engine is highly dependent on a computer which in turn is highly dependent on sensors to determine what to do the run the engine properly. You can get as much power out of a carbed engine as you can a EFI, you just need to know more about what you are doing, ie. the computer resides in your head :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Good luck on your decision.

Holley has a kit called projection I tried the 4 and 2 barrel versions and found the drivability to be great but lacking in the performance I wanted . Easy to install though prices not too bad on ebay either . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Painless also should have a wiring kit, You can source the rest from a donor vehicle

i was under the impression that they had kit's that didn't need computers. i think i'll wait and see what it does after it's massive rebuild. i've never worked with carbs before, or an engine this size.

thanks

there is a holley efi kit in summit racing ... i would go efi because if you go on certian enclines and get tilted to much your carb boggs down and if you tilt left to right carbs dont really maintain if you go over 40 degrese so i would go with a efi because it always gets the same amount of fuel in each cyclinder everytime and you dont have to worry about hitting a mud hole and getting water in your fuel

i'd rather go efi. i found a complete kit for about $3000 which includes everything with a new distributer. but i'm not good with carbs plus with the truck being in england with it cold efi would make it run easier. but it'll be returning to the states in july then i'll make up my mind on what to do with the engine. this is the site i found reguarding the efi efi kit. plus what hp does the 351w put out. i thought it was 260, but with reading some other topics they only put out 139....so i'm confused. i wouldn't know which kit to get, if i decide to get one. they're based on 'fly wheel' hp.

thanks.
