Would someone mind sending me the fluid capacity levels on an '81 6cyl Bronco? It's a manual, no AC (but with the larger radiator).

I'm mainly looking for the oil capacity, but the others would be nice as well.

Thanks!

The book I have states front & rear axles, transfer case, all manual 4sp trans use 85W90 gear oil filled till it touches bottom of filler hole. Engine should be 6 1/2 qts of whatever weight engine oil you plan.I would add slowly on the last qt and keep checking stick.Recheck after cranking and filling oil filter up. Radiator, hard to say w/o capacity. :)>-

I filled the engine up with about 5 quarts of oil (and replaced the oil filter). However, after starting it up, letting the oil pressure build to normal, and then turning it off again, the dip stick read WAY above the full line. It's always been like this and I can't figure out why. I've had it for about a year and changed the oil several times, but even with just a few quarts, it reads well above the maximum fill line. I suppose it might just have the wrong dipstick, but how often does that happen?

Any ideas?

Take the FORD ID# and call your fave dealer to cross over to application. I think its probably wrong stick.5 qts would be a minimum. When you get the #s off it post them up.

As simple of an idea as it was, I never thought to give Ford the part numbers. I called them up and it turns out it's a dipstick from an '86 300 I6, but they changed the oil pan in '83 or something. A new one cost $16. Should set things straight. Thanks for the idea.

The number off of the one that is currently in there is: E2TE-6750-JA
