Ok, I am reading the info off of my door sticker and much to my surprise I find that I have a factory limited slip. Wooooohoooooo! Now I get curious and try to ID the rest of my parts from the door sticker. I am find conflicting info. The H9 Axle designation I have found saying that it is the limited slip(no conflicts there)....but have found the 9 to be listed as both 3.55 and 4.10. Which do I have? Anyone know of a reliable link to a complete table showing the door sticker codes? Here is what I have Trans: E Axle: H9 I can not find the E trans anywhere. Thanks.

You can search the forums for other posts on the door safety sticker and the codes, I saw an explanation listed recently. Providing the year model of the vehicle will help alot, but my sources agree that the Ford 8.8" rear axle code "H9" is a 3.55 ratio with factory L/S. You can verify that by the metal ID tag bolted to the rear cover of the center section. (IF it's missing, look for the front one.) You will see two rows of numbers, including BOM # on top ( build numbers used when ordering parts) and the axle ID on the second row.

Your's should read "3L55 8 8 ..." on the rear, "3L54 8 8 ..." up front. I have this in my 88 Bronco with the 5.0L V8.

Transmission code "E" should be the E4OD, electronic or computer -controlled automatic with overdrive. The letter "K" is for the C-6 auto. You can ID either by the pan shape and number of bolts in the pan.

If you can't find the charts in a previous post, go to the How-To & Tech Articles forum. I have a link to Miesk5 with all of the Bronco info you'll ever need, JSM84

Cool thanks for the info. So will the limited slips be in both axles or just the rear? I will definately checkout your link also. My Bronco is a 91 Eddie Bauer. 351. 140K miles. I bought it purely with the intent of making it my toy. I am going to post a bulliten of all the mods I want to make to it and see what input I can get from those that have been there and done that.

I can not wait to get up in the sand dunes this summer and beat on it. Thanks again.

If your axle code is H9 it is a 3.55 limited slip. If there is a 2 after that then the front axle is also a limited slip. If there is no 2 after the 9, it is a standard open

differential. ex. H92 (both limited slip) H9 (rear only is limited slip). 4.11 gears were designated as 13 or H3.

For some reason in 78 - 82 Ford used H9 for 4.11's but from 83 and up it designates 3.55

Also, see this link for a place to request a build sheet for your truck http://broncozone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5943

Good luck,

:)>-
