First off as always more info is required. fill in your sig with ALL info about your truck (year, engine, miles, any modifications etc).

Anytime you have a no start condition start with the basics

Does we have SPARK

Does we have FUEL ?

Hey Chiefsfan,

Welcome,  Check that you have power at the + terminal of the coil.

If you don't, check fuses, and wiring to determine what is causing an open circuit. Sometimes a worn ignition switch can be the cause.

If you do have power, connect a test light between the + and - terminal of the coil, and crank the engine.  If the test light flashes, the coil is getting a "fire" signal.

All primary side ignition components are ok.

Check for spark at the distributor side of the coil wire.

No spark is the result of a bad coil, or bad coil wire.

If you have spark and yet the engine won't fire, look for a corroded cap, high resistance in plug wires, or fouled plugs. (These conditions are rare, but possible.)

Most likely the test light will show no flashing, which is the result of a bad module, (I don't always trust the parts store test.) a bad pick up coil in the dizzy, or an open in the wiring.

M-5 has the low down on all the testing on those parts.

Good Luck

yo C,

I just entered a long reply, but Lost it while trying to open another Window.

For now,

NO SPARK;

did you do the tests as advised by Ron

and the Link I provided?

One Q about "... have checked the enertia switch ...no power"

Should see continuity between both sides of the switch; can ck for batty power later.

Socket Corrosion Info; "...if you had corrosion in your relay socket, then you probably have it other places. one at a time unplug all relays and connectors on that fender and spray them down with contact cleaner. then after you let that do it's job for about 30min-1hr, go back and unplug each relay and connector again (one at a time) this time put them together with di-electric grease. you can buy a tube of it from any electrical/electronics supply or auto store. make sure you get everything plugged back in..."
