Bronco runs sluggish after 1200 mile trip

Okay, so went on a 1200 mile trip in 24hrs with the Bronco.

Ran like a champ from home (denver, the "mile high" city) to about Cali in Sacarmento - near sea level.

Well truck has double its power! But it sounds like ***** and idles rough as all heck.. I may be moving to Cali or Seattle in the weeks to come..and if that's the case, I'd like to figure out why the truck isn't running like a new car like it does up in Denver..

ideas? Thoughts?

Brainstorm..

I was thinking the ECU trying to adjust with the altitude? Though.. I'm not sure that can be possible?? Exhausted from the run? Altho the last check at 200 miles out (getting gas), truck sounded/ran perfect

Make sure all your plug wires are firmly attached.

Did you open the hood on the way to check the oil, and disturb the wiring or a vacuum hose?

Look for vacuum leaks, consider changeing your fuel filter, air filter and examine plugs cap and rotor, then pull diagnostic codes.

The concept of going to EFI and MAP sensor is so that the engine can run at different altitudes without need to physically adjust the carb. You are right, it will re-learn, but should run fine in the process.

No (new) codes stored in ECU - Last time I pulled codes was over a year ago :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I checked for vacuum leaks, air filter was just changed when I arrived, it looked fairly new, and yet to check plugs/cap/rotor. Oil was a tad low, but not enough to effect it (needed 1/2 qt)

I'm starting to think it was just tired. Today after sitting for over a day, it runs like a charm. Though I'm still a little worried.. I did switch from premium to regular on this drive.. I'm thinking the lower grade fuel is playing its part? It has been fed premium fuel its whole life with regular fuel every now and then
